Kiel Cemetery, Dunaverty Bay, and Ailsa Craig

7.5C starting with the overnight rain dying out then clearing to give a bright cool clear sunny day.
Light ESE/SE/ESE/S/SW breeze.

Grocery shopping over by mid morning. Maeve the Deerhound stayed at home.

We went the ten miles or so South to Southend then followed the road round past Dunaverty beach and Kiel to Carskey Bay. The tide had just turned and begun to come in and there were lots of seals on the rocks at Kiel. In the car park at Carskey Bay there was a horse box and two women were leading their horses round on long tethers. They went ahead of us down onto the beach for a wander down near the sea. Neither of the horses wanted to go into the water for a wade or a paddle. We walked along with Maeve to the far end and came back again. It felt quite warm when the sun was fully out.

On the way home we decided to stop and walk the few yards to St Columba's footprints from where I took this shot, and then went down to St Columba's Well. If you look carefully in the far left foreground of my shot you might see the sign pointing to the well itself which is to be found behind the cemetery at the foot of a steep cliff. On the right of shot you may be able to make out some of the seals on the rocks.

There were eggs for sale at Little farm today. I bought a box. 5 brown shells and one white.

First weekend of 6 nations rugby. Italy were beaten by Wales today.

Later Apothecary7 was painting.
