Towards the Gauldrons

... and you can see Rathlin Island too

4.6C dull cloudy morning, bright afternoon. Light ESE/SSE/S breeze.

Apothecary7's day off.

The weather forecast had indicated that it would brighten mid morning so, for a change, we thought we might go to Machrihanish and walk from the Pans to the bird observatory at Lossit Point then take the rough track over past Uisead Bay. This area is known as the Gauldrons, and is the proposed site of a Marine Harvest Wrasse hatchery. Unfortunately the weather didn't brighten as we hoped and it was rather cold. Even Fergus seemed to feel the cold the further out we went.

My photo was taken from the trig point above Uisead Bay where the planning permission for the hatchery would seem to be centred. Local feeling, despite some promised new jobs, is running high.

If you look on the horizon just right of centre you may see Rathlin island, off the coast of Northern Ireland.

We had a late lunch and got everyone warmed up. Only then did it really brighten up outside.
