... in a bottle

Derelict Sunday:   ... in a bottle

"Just a castaway
An island lost at sea
Another lonely day
With no one here but me
More loneliness
Than any man could bear
Rescue me before I fall into despair

I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle

A year has passed since I wrote my note
But I should have known this right from the start
Only hope can keep me together
Love can mend your life
But love can break your heart

I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle

Walked out this morning
Don't believe what I saw
A hundred billion bottles
Washed up on the shore
Seems I'm not alone at being alone
A hundred billion castaways
Looking for a home"

The Police ~ Message in a bottle

A very enjoyable Sunday lunch with my sister and her husband Incredibish, followed by a walk along the river at Saltford in the late afternoon light. There were plenty of photo opportunities; but with it being a Sunday, this shot of someone's carelessly thrown away plastic bottle seemed somehow very appropriate.  The message in this bottle is one of ecological imperatives and the need to control plastic waste.  So the final verse with its one hundred million bottles washed up on the shore, whilst all too likely, is hopefully yet avoidable....

I will admit to pushing the saturation on this shot, but the end result I rather like.

Inevitably I chose a link to the Police's 1980's hit to illustrate this. If you have the time, and are of the right generation, click on the link.  wow, but those early '80s fashions take me back to my youth!
