The Old Forge (Wednesday 8th February 2017)

Yes, I have joined the serried ranks of the birdfeeder blipper photographers. At least it makes an alternative from Smokey.
The feeder will eventually be sited in view of the kitchen window but has been temporarily suspended from an outbuilding bracket, where it isn't terribly visible from the cottage.
It has been there a few weeks and refilled with sunflower hearts several times, but I had never seen a bird on it until this Sunday morning when it was suddenly very busy with chaffinches and goldfinches, queuing up to use it, and I have seen the birds there several times since.
I tried some shots on Sunday but they all had to be deleted and this goldfinch isn't vastly better in quality, having been taken from a distance through a less than spotless double-glazed front door glass window on a very dull day, but it does record for posterity its addition to my empire.
There is a second small feeder attached to an apple tree that I can just see from the bathroom, and that is now filled with peanuts, but the birds haven't found that yet.
