A time for everything

Back in the U.S.!

Thursday
After three and a half years in France, we are now back in the States - in Cincinnati, Ohio. We arrived back Saturday night, having spent three days in Dublin on our way back. We spent the first few nights in a hotel, till we could sort out a few basics at the house - mainly a bed! It will be about another five weeks or so until most of our furniture arrives, though the company did pay for a small air shipment, which should arrive early next week. We still have some basic kitchen supplies in the house, a table to eat off, and a sofa and chair for the family room, but the only bed left in the house was a single bed! One of our existing mattresses is due for replacement, so we decided to buy a new one, rather than sleep on the sleeper sofa in the basement for 5/6 weeks! We ordered our internet, TV and phone service Sunday afternoon, and were amazed when the guy said they could install it Monday morning - it meant running a new cable to the house, as it is the new fibre optic cable which has only been available in the area for about a year. Yesterday we bought a new washer and dryer, which will be delivered tomorrow - our old washer having packed up in our absence - it was twenty years old! We still have a couple of problems to fix, but we're gradually getting sorted.
The temperature on Sunday was 60 F, today was less than half that, with a dusting of snow having fallen overnight, but sunshine most of the day. By Saturday it will be back to 60 F again, but wet! Roger had come home in the afternoon to take his car in for a service, so we went for a walk at Sharon Woods - it was late afternoon by this point, and beginning to cool off, so by the time we got back to the car my legs were really cold!
Well, I think I'm ready for bed - I'm still not quite on Cincinnati time yet!
