Snow on Arran, Radiant Morn, and the Beacon

4.0C with variable cloud cover. Not dull. Brighter in the afternoon. Light ESE/E breeze.

Maeve the Deerhound was up just before 6am. We went for our walk.

I took Maeve for another short walk about 9.30am, brought her home, then went out to the fish shop and the Coop. Salmon quiche from the fish shop today.

After lunch Maeve and I went for the repeat of the morning walking route across the road and round to the park and the harbour and back along through town. There were three fishing boats at the old quay and the small creel boats were in.

Once Maeve was back home and settled I went for a walk. I went round past Aquilibrium and had a wander round the old quay. A lorry had just arrived on the new quay and wood was being offloaded to be piled up to wait on a ship calling in to collect it. Then I went on round the harbour and along the little park by the ferry terminal and out Kilkerran road to Glenramskill House then I came back. It wasn't feeling so cold today. The wind had dropped to a breeze. I came back along the street side of the park and came home through town passing the town hall and the bookshop (open).

Podcasts of BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs on the Clip (as I walked):
Gryff Rhys Jones, Welsh comedian, writer, actor and television presenter.
Nigel Slater, English food writer, journalist and broadcaster.
Sir Laurens Jan van der Post, CBE (13 December 1906 - 16 December 1996), a 20th-century Afrikaner author, farmer, war hero, political adviser to British heads of government, close friend of Prince Charles, godfather of Prince William, educator, journalist, humanitarian, philosopher, explorer and conservationist. However, his reputation suffered after his death. After his death a number of writers, including his biographer, questioned the accuracy of van der Post's claims about his life.
