Pilot Boat

4.2C with a bright sunny start. Soon clouding over then cloudy with bright spells. SE/ESE/E wind to 24 mph with gusts to 32 mph.

Maeve the Deerhound and I went for a walk after lunch. We went round to the harbour then along past the ferry terminal to the park. It felt windy and very cold. Almost all the fishing boats were out of the harbour. At the end of the park we turned and came back along the street side then came home through town past the town hall and the bookshop (open).

Once Maeve was back home and settled I added a pair of waterproof trousers to my outfit to keep the wind at bay and went for another walk. I walked across the green and out Low Askomill to the shipyard. There was one man playing with his dog down on the foreshore at the shipyard otherwise it and the path beyond seemed deserted. The wind was relentless.

As I was coming back near to North Shore Street I noticed the Pilot boat come out from the new quay and move slowly round to the old quay and drift towards the seaward end of one of the marina pontoons. Looked like it had a large green buoy alongside. There were manoeuvrings. There were two men on deck and two or three figures on the end of the marina pontoon. I stopped to get a photo or two with Davaar island as ever serving as backdrop, then I came home.

Apethecary7 and I shall take a wander round to the Springbank distillery tonight to see David Hayman in a one man show in the Malt Barns. ‘The Cause of Thunder’ - a play by Chris Dolan, directed by David Hayman Jr.

Extra: David Hayman on stage in the Q&A after the play. He had been presented with a birthday cake and a bottle of Springbank for his 69th birthday and a special card from a very nice less able member of the community who had met him on his last visit. Spot the cake with mini David :-)
