As predicted, after a night of rain it was grey and cool this morning. We decided to go to Almuñecar anyway, to check out the museum and also investigate the heated swimming pool someone had told us about. We were too late for the museum, the hotel pool was no longer open to non-residents, and the municipal pool was only open in the morning, so we were too late. Result :)

Instead we went for a slow amble around the old part of Almuñecar, including the tourist office (see extra) where we stopped for a diary of events and a map. Back at the seafront, it was almost 2 o'clock, so we picked a restaurant using the criteria of 1) I had earlier seen a waiter stocking the chiller cabinet with fish from the market and 2) it was now heaving with people. We had a relatively expensive (15 euro) menu del día which as usual was too much food, but excellent value given the quality. We left feeling very satisfied with our restaurant selection abilities.

By now the weather had defied the forecast. It was gloriously sunny -- there were even a couple of people in the sea -- and the promenade was full of northern European tourists overdressed, like us, for the conditions. So we had a wander and a sit in the sun before heading home. I am becoming quite favourable to the idea of spending part of every winter around here!
