Frozen Moskva

One of the things I like about Moscow is that it has a real winter, as the frozen River Moskva testifies. I have never seen it as a solid sheet of ice yet, and I'm not sure that it ever gets that way as there are icebreakers that go up and down, so I'm told. However I find the blocks of ice that are left behind fascinating.

I don't often venture near the river, although it is never far, but I was advised not to live anywhere that would entail walking on a bridge over it to get to work. They are exposed to the elements, especially the wind, so I think it was sound advice, although it would be good to see the river more often.
