Hugh who?

I'm sure that John R Smith will have known the answer without any more information, but I had never heard of Hugh Miller.

Today I visited Fortrose and missed seeing the dolphins in the bay by a few minutes. There were lots of other photographers there. I drove on to Cromarty and enjoyed time wandering around the small winding streets. This monument stands on a mound above one of the churches. The statue is on a very high column so you can't see any details without binoculars. Hugh Miller sounds to have been a remarkable man.

I have used layers to put the details from the plaque at the bottom of the column into the sky. It's hard to see but he died in 1856. Try large.
