OUR LOVELY SWISS FRIENDS

Several years ago, when we used to go down to Honeycombe Beach at Boscombe - hence my name and Mr. HCB’s, in case anyone has wondered - we met some lovely people who lived in the apartment next door.  Erich and Pascal lived there at first and then Pascal moved out when Erich married Lisa.  A couple of years later, Erich and Lisa had their first baby, Noah, and it was always a joy to see this little family whenever we went down to Honeycombe Beach.  When we were there we nearly always shared a meal at sometime and Erich was particularly fond of my rhubarb crumble, so I always tried to make one for him as our dessert.

We got to know Erich’s parents, who visited from Switzerland quite regularly and went over to stay with them in October 2012.  We had a wonderful time and have kept in touch ever since, enjoying hearing about their family and the new babies being born.

They are visiting the UK with their younger daughter, Elena, and it was lovely to see them for lunch today and to spend a couple of hours with them before they travelled north.  They had wanted to take us out to lunch, but we felt that it would be much better to stay in so that we could chat and reminisce without interruption and we were right.  We had a great time together - and they have now gone on their way rejoicing and not too full, we hope.

We look forward to seeing them again whenever they come to the UK and thank them for making time to stop at “MoJo’s Café - the best in the West!”

“Eating a meal together
can be a place of joy,
          celebration and friendship.
We can show love for
     each other and
          celebrate life.”
Jean Vanier : Founder of L’Arche

P.S.  Mr. HCB wasn't keen when I asked him to be in the photograph - he said he had done his bit last week - so insisted I was in one too!
