Taranaki

Day off today, as this locum is for only four days a week. That suited me as I could vote in the bye election before heading away to a conference in Wellington. The flight left Auckland at 4 pm, and the weather was brilliantly sunny the whole way to Wellington. At about half way, the plane went slightly to the east of Taranaki (aka Mount Egmont), a perfect cone volcano. A solitary volcano, well away from the volcanic plateau in the centre of the North Island.

So far the meeting has been thought provoking, and it is good that we are getting together to discuss what needs to be done to improve acute mental health services. More tomorrow.
