Waterloo Station - Counties served by former L&amp

Waterloo was the London terminus of the old London & South Western Railway.

Above their central entrance arch, they carved the names of theEnglish counties they served.

These were high up and hard to see, until the recent construction of the mezzanine floor to open more cafes and shops. Whilst I personally deplore the impact on the Station, it at least enables one to see the top of the arch more closely - as this shot shows.

In the arch is a beautiful stained glass coat of arms of the L&SWR.
