Confusion?

It's been all go in the garden tonight. The mild damp weather is ideal for toads to return to their breeding sites and a steady stream has been crawling across the lawn towards our largest pond. In most years there is a short gap between the frog breeding frenzy (which continues unabated) and the return of the toads, but this year they are overlapping, which appears to have caused some confusion. This toad was not very keen on its froggy suitor, but couldn't quite shake him off. The smooth newts are also back in force, keeping a lower profile on the bottom of the pond.
