New tree

The council have already started planting new trees to replace those that they have cut down in recent days.  Apparently it is a different variety from those removed (they gave an explanation why which passed over my head) so it may not match the timing and colour of the blossom on the older trees - like the one behind.  In any case, it will take many years to have the same impact.  But good on the council for maintaining the environment.

I was amused by the natty zip up waterproof jacket they put round the trunk of the tree. I'm sure it's not to keep the tree warm, but more likely to protect it from passing animals.
