Kildonan, Arran

When the girls were very young we had a few family holidays at Kildonan in the south of Arran, so D#1 and I have returned for a nostalgic 2-day visit.

We've been extremely lucky with the weather! There have been one or two short showers and some dark skies, but on the whole it's been lovely.

The first extra was taken on the mainland, looking across to Arran while we waited for the ferry; then there's the view from Kildonan looking across to the tiny island of Pladda with its lighthouse and Ailsa Craig in the distance.

The last one was taken from the deck as the last few cars drove into the bowels of the ferry with its huge bow still up in the air. It made us think of the 'Herald of Free Enterprise' disaster in Zeebrugge 30 years ago.
