Mini Mantis

A not very good shot of a tiny praying mantis but considering the gymnastic moves I had to perform to get this shot, it is remarkable I got one at all.

I spotted it on the kale - about 4 cm of upside down mantis tucked away deep in the kale along with 50,000 whitefly in attendance. I had to poke the macro lens in between the stalks while awkwardly holding back the frilly leaves - which immediately caused 49,000 of the whitefly to  leap into the air around my head.

I am trying not to think of how many white fly are now in my lungs.

I am not sure what variety of mantis it was - but I suspect by the very narrow waist, it is the wrong kind.
