Kyrenia Harbour

Taken from the castle walls.

A lovely place to spend our 42nd wedding anniversary.

Cloudier today but still cardigan warm and not windy.

We started the day at Bellapaise Abbey in. A lovely little village at the foot hills of the mountains reknowned not only for the beautiful Orthodox Abbey and views over Kyrenia but for being the village where Laurence Durrell lived and wrote Bitter Lemons of Cyprus which I am about to read but forgot to bring with me! Great views of the bay but a bit dull today for distance shots.

There was a milky sun visible through the clouds when we descended to Kyrenia and went around the harbour side castle. This shot is taken from the castle ramparts. Lots of wild flowers on the walls particularly notable the pretty miniature Iris. When we walked around the harbour later, I took a shot looking the other way towards the castle with a group of young people smoking shisha pipes in the foreground.

Sorry I haven't commented in the last 24 hours but we can't get wifi in our room so have to go to the bar. Life's hard!
