Kröten und Kondom

The village has a strong group who organise the annual Toad Migration from one the fields on one side of a road to the enticing lake on the other side. Several hundred meters of a low net are hung along the field side of the road and every 5 meters a bucket placed in a dug hole. Toad, frog and newt hop against the net, then travel sideways to get around it and fall in the bucket.

Twice a day, mornings and evenings the buckets are collected, carried over the road and the amphibians released to continue their journey.  The number collected is then recorded on the large poster size chart. - see extra photo.

The migration is only now getting into full swing but it's nice to see on the poster that there are some responsible migrators. On Friday one of the 72 collected was at least using a Condom.

There is a voluntary diversion asking drivers to take a different route especially during the evening hours and the parish council does erect a temporary 50 km/h speed limit. I understand, the group has a very high reputation in such circles and they are supported by the farmers who allow them to net the fields.
