Representing Hutton's Section

This is the wall of the Scottish Parliament in the Canongate. The upper part, which was behind me as I took the picture, is the part with all the quotations.

This part represents the Old Town of Edinburgh and also the proximity of the Parliament to one of the the founding places of the modern study of Geology (by Professor James Hutton) and therefore to the whole Scottish Enlightenment.

In a sense it represents Edinburgh as a "Capital of the Mind" and the city remains, of course, the home of not one but three Universities .

Edinburgh University, which I attended, is also one of the five "ancient" Universities in Scotland, which are all in the top 200 in the world University rankings, making Scotland the leading country on the planet ( by population and GDP) in Higher Education.
