Life in Sunny Dubai

Midnight Cafe

A quiet day at home today! I am really trying to get to grips with Instagram; discovered that you can only post to it from a phone!!

G made a delicious lasagna (as always), and once dinner was over, we went down to a nearby bookshop to collect six pens ordered especially for me! The Uni-ball Jet Stream Sport! It writes beautifully and yesterday I discovered, there are websites dedicated to pens (yes) with detailed reviews, and even an exhibition in the US! The things you learn on the internet...

Pens collected, we walked over to Midnight Cafe to meet up with long time friend Peter. He started in a tiny space on what is now Kuwait Street all the way back in March 1990, in fact, SweetArt and I and a couple of other people from our youth group were on the first flyer! The building was being demolished, so Peter had to move, and I just found out today that he is only a couple of streets away from us! Amazing. And better still, he now has space for his customers to sit and dine on the premises!

I loved all the things he had hanging on the wall, so showing some of them here. The restaurant was full all the time we were chatting, and just when we got up to leave (and I took these pictures), there were only two people. True story.

Walked back home carefully noticing all the changes that are happening in our area since the broke down the old buildings, built new ones and are now starting to lease the units...

Another weekend come round... our residence visas haven't come through, so fingers crossed - on Sunday.

PS. If you're wondering was a "fil" is... 100 fils make 1 dirham; our unit of currency.
