I Saw a Lowry!

Which has no relation to the photo. This fine roadster was parked outside the garage when we went to pick up George's car before driving to Leicester.

Cumberland Road Autos of Loughborough specialises in repair and maintenance of classic cars. They also look after our cars very well.

Len and George fetched a rocking chair that Kat had spotted in the small ads, or online, a few nights ago. They got it upstairs. Kat intends to use it while nursing the baby.

The men took off for the LCFC footy against Stoke giving me a lift halfway down the Hinckley Road where I took a bus into town. I'd gone to see an exhibition of Lowry's at the Whitewall Gallery in Highcross. Except there was only one genuine Lowry. The rest were high class prints costing between £5000-£10000.

The young lady I'd spoken to before told me the genuine painting was right behind me. It wasn't very large. The subject was a steam boat on the Clyde. I could understand right away why people would want to collect the genuine article. The painting seemed to breathe with the brush strokes as fresh as if they'd been painted yesterday. It was enlightening. Expensive though they are, the prints can't really compete.

I did like The Pond and My Family. Lowry had paid particular attention to the highlights of the boots in My Family and also the way the stocking clung to the leg of the little girl.

I was offered two glasses of Prosecco which I quaffed eagerly. I think they wanted to finish off the bottle before it lost fizz.

I ambled off to M&S to look for white cotton socks, without success, They only seemed to sell the socks that are trainer liners. They always slip in my shoes and I can't understand why they're so popular.

Then a stop off at Muffin Break where I had two muffins, and shouldn't have. They've forgotten how to make proper tea which enrages me. The girl offered me a pot of hot water and a tea bag. I insisted on having it made properly which she didn't understand at all. The senior barista had to intervene.

Fancy having gone to Leicester and not bought anything but two muffins and two cups of tea!
