Common Enchantments

Between the porch posts

A busy day, driving to Tucson to the Botanical Garden which advertised Freida Kahlo art..but no art...false advertising.  All we saw of that were photos and things for sale in the gift shop and the "Two Freidas" dresses made from paper in the exhibit hall.   But there were butterflies and flowers and lizards and cacti!   We wanted to go to the Center for Creative Photography..closed on Monday.   So back to Phoenix with a stop at Casa Grande at Florence,  a very large portion of a 700 year old adobe building of the Ancient People of the Sonoran Desert.  Very interesting.

So then we decided to see the Boyce Thompson Gardens at Superior, AZ.  We got there at 4pm..they close at 5 and we were hustling to see it all in an hour..no way possible. A really large botanical garden in a very natural setting.    We ended up with free passes for another day after Maura had some "discussion" with the lady in the office!

Tomorrow we are going toward Jerome and Sedona..a full day for sure but very different scenery.  Our last day here is Wednesday so we will revisit the Thompson Garden that day as it is not far from our airport hotel.

This photo is the late afternoon sun coming through the railings of the front porch.  It seems to have a 3D effect when I look at it.  Something different from cactus, birds or flowers...except for the flowering tree in the background..maybe a mesquite or palo verde..not sure which.

In the extras, a butterfly wing, the metal sculpture water feature, and a blue wall with sunspots on it.  Something different.

Thanks for any comments and stars from the last few days.  Sleep is required.
