Lockwod Beck Reservoir

... is just off the A171 Whitby to Middlesbrough Road.  We've passed it on numerous occasions  when driving too and fro from Castleton (North York Moors), but never stopped before.  Yesterday there was someone parked just off the road overlooking the reservoir, which prompted me to stop and have a look.  I think you'd have to choose your time and the light to get the most out of the landscape - probably sunrise, but of the few images I took yesterday I decided that this one gave the best sense of the place.

We also stopped and had a short walk on the heathland above Guisborough, just after the s-shaped climb out of the Guisborough valley - there's a bit of a car-park on the left where the beacon is located.  (I'm not sure what it's called.)  Which was also pleasant and gave us glimpses of the sea and a different view of that coastal strip that we're used to seeing from a different angle.  The gorse was out in its full glory too - well worth a stop.
