Marjorie's ramblings

Great excitement

We went to Hoy today. When we had been at sea for about 15 minutes the Coastguard helicopter came overhead and hovered near us. Then one of the men was lowered down on a rope. Just after this image he was swung on board and a few minutes later he reversed the process.

This was a training exercise. The captain and crew had no warning. We passengers were the lucky viewers and I was SO glad I had not left my camera in the minibus while we sailed to Hoy. Technically the main difficulty was because the helicopter was between us and the sun.

On Hoy we spent time at Rastwick Bay photographing the stones. Two of our group walked to the Old Man of Hoy. The day was over far too soon (despite 4 of us filling our boots with salt water!)

The forecast for tomorrow is not brilliant but we will do some indoor visits if necessary.

The other great excitement today is that Mum is 91 years old. I'm waiting to hear how she enjoyed her theatre trip to see The Importance of Being Earnest.
