A surfeit of riches on a wet day

It rained nearly all day. "Very wet rain" said one photographer.

We were indoors for most of the day, starting at the excellent folk museum. This is an old farm so the rooms and the outbuildings show how the family lived here. The old tools are amazing. I like the way the chickens pop in and out of the house.

After lunch we went to see the Italian Chapel. This is well worth a visit if you come to Orkney but you have to time it between huge coachloads of tourists.

Finally we went into Kirkwall to St Magnus Cathedral and worked there while a choir from Oxford rehearsed for this evening's concert.

The rain eased so our truly last shoot of the day was at the harbour where the Statsraad Lemhkuhl is berthed. It's next destination is Bergen.

How many more Orkney delights can we sample I wonder? We hope that the rain will stay away tomorrow.
