Island Hopping

Another back blip.
When we took the ferry to see the The Statue of Liberty we didn't have time to go to see Brooklyn Bridge so that was our aim for today.
First we went Downtown and walked through Soho, Greenwich, Little Italy and Chinatown.
We passed the AIDS Memorial ( see extra) before stopping for coffee.
It was such a beautiful, bright day and lots of little outdoor markets were sprinkled throughout the neighbourhoods.
When we arrived at the bridge we joined hundreds if not thousands of others making the crossing by foot, bicycle or motor vehicle.
We enjoyed every step on the wooden boards, so much to see, feel and hear, our senses were on overtime!
On arriving at Long Island where Brooklyn is situated we looked down and saw a newly married couple having their photograph taken in front of the Manhatten skyline, she wore the most amazing dress and a little white fur jacket, unfortunately, too far away for my lens to capture clearly.
Mr P had been to Brooklyn before to stay there when he cycled around New York (about twenty five years ago) so he could point out lots of landmarks.
I think l took my best photographs today as the conditions were near perfect and the subject matter was unbeatable.
After crossing back we returned to Little Italy and went for pizza in a tiny little restaurant that had made pizza in its brick ovens since 1906.
Think they had mastered their skill as it was as good as it gets.
We were served by a charming little aged Italian waiter who bore more than a passing reference to Mrs Overall! ( sorry, this will be lost on a lot of you)
We then walked back to our hotel arm in arm.
We had forgotten to put on our step counter until midday, when we had already walked for a couple of hours, nevertheless we had still clocked up over 35,OOO steps.
Two very tired but happy people.
