ART

First I will report on yesterdays events.  The Doppler Test was OK so the nurse was able to apply the compression bandages.  Things have moved on in the 5 years since I last had them and the outer bandages are lighter and the inner bandage instead of being a heavy crepe bandage is a thinner stretchy material which has moisturing properties.  So it feels more comfortable.  ( I have put my leg in Extras.)

On to the football.  What a match.  Newcastle were awarded a penalty.  Matt Ritchie scored.  However the ref disallowed it.  And gave a free kick to the other team.  Cue angry scenes - crowd going mad at the referee.  Players in utter disbelief.  Newcastle manager furious.  But the goal didn't stand so it was on with the game.  Luckily Newcastle ( Matt Ritchie again ) scored  on the 68th minute and won the game 1 - 0.  Whew.  After the game the the Professional Game Match Officials Limited issued a statement saying .... " the decision made by the referee was incorrect. The rules state that the penalty kick should have been retaken. Unfortunately the referee has misapplied the law. He and his team are understandably upset at the lapse in concentration and apologise for the mistake."  The referee was supposed to officiate in a match at the weekend -- but he has been dropped!.

On to today.  I had bought a couple of theatre tickets online so I went to Newcastle to pick them up.  First stop was The Live Theatre on the Quayside.  Then a long walk up to Northern Stage which is near Newcastle University.  I love going to the University as there are some lovely old buildings.  There is a lot of building work going on at the moment so it looks a bit like a building site.

My blip shot shows Northern Stage in the background.  In the foreground is  part of a new art installation on Newcastle University’s campus which takes rubbish and puts it centre stage. A student has gathered the things thrown away at the University and has turned them into the artwork named  Academic Waste. She created three clear cylinders on stands which she has filled with broken glass to represent chemistry, paper to represent English and metal offcuts to represent engineering. The one in my shot is the glass one.

The weather today was bright and sunny but very windy and none too warm.

I seem to have written loads - if you have bothered to read it all Thanks.
