Bumps in the Road

Shore to have a good time

Nikki and Grandma afforded me a lay in this morning and then treated me to coffee in bed. I could get used to this.

After another fairly lazy morning, we toddled of to Praia da Dona Ana in Lagos. Boasting golden sands and clear blue seas, we chased the children around the rocks before chartering a small boat to explore the secret grottoes.

The little lady fell asleep on the boat back and had to be woken on our return, resulting in a very short tempered afternoon.

Today's pool session lasted closer to two hours, with the wee man growing in confidence around the water. He's now able to swim in his hands and isn't afraid to be thrown in the air and dunked under water. He looks longingly at the nearby water parks and I've promised him a trip as soon as he's able to swim a few lengths. We'll definitely have to maintain this back in Edinburgh.

To celebrate six years of being together, Nikki and I headed out to a winery diner run by a local wine maker and his German chef wife.

Having checked to see that there were plenty of cars earlier in the day, we took an Uber there so we could both enjoy a glass or two of vinho verde.

When we finished we tried to call another taxi but unfortunately it wasn't available. After chatting to the waiter, he laughed and said they're were only two Uber drivers in the Algarve! We therefore settled for a local taxi but had to take a detour to stop by a cash machine.

Thankfully Grandma didn't mind staying up late waiting for us!
