Stables

I decided to go for a 'Derelict Sunday' blip today. Main photo is of the inside, and extra photo is of the outside, of Craigmarloch Stables.

The stables were built in the early part of the 19th century to house the horses that would tow boats on the nearby Forth & Clyde Canal. Because of the boggy nature of the Dullatur Marshes, the ground adjacent to the Canal itself was unsuitable for building upon, so the stables sit next to a feeder stream rather than the canal itself.

Craigmarloch Stables are a Category C Listed Building and are listed on the Buildings At Risk register.
