The Lozarithm Lens

Lacock (Sunday 16th April 2017)

As I'd been dissatisfied with my own performance photographing snake's head fritillaries at Lacock the previous Sunday, I went back to the Abbey grounds to have another go. It was the 785th anniversary of the laying of the first stone of Lacock Abbey.

I left my visit until later in the day to avoid the Easter Sunday crowds, and took different lenses to the time before (a 100mm prime macro and a 28-105mm full frame lens). This is perhaps not perfectly focused but I quite like the very narrow depth of field, although I still haven't got near to the image I have in my head.

I didn't see any cats in the grounds but I learned that there is a Bengal cat with spots like a leopard to be seen in the village churchyard sometimes so I went to check it out. No cats but I did photograph a rather chilled dog on a lead there.

Lozarhythm of the Day:
Kamasi Washington - Truth (2017)
In a break with the tradition that I have just started, I heard this on the radio on Sunday not from Cerys Matthew's programme but on Mary Anne Hobbs' earlier show. Not knowing who it was until the end I was imagining it was from the fifties or sixties before electric keyboards (I blame Herbie Hancock) and other modernisations infiltrated the music of the jazz greats like Coltrane or Miles - but it turns out to be from a new EP, Harmony of Difference, that is to be released in the summer.
