Ladies in Red

Oh my, it was an eventful day today! We were doing a session at a Hindu Temple, it was the first time we've been there. Sewa Day is an international volunteer day celebrated in October, but the charitable organisation is keen to get Hindus involved with blood donation and so they had worked hard to get as many together today.

They were so lovely and welcoming, doing as much as they could to help all day. The ladies had all arranged to wear their brightest red saris and they looked beautiful. They had made food for us and the donors and nothing was too much trouble. They all donated and were so pleased to do it.

It was a hard day for us as the majority of donors were new and they had travelled to places that need to be checked by the nurse. They had organised a visit by the Lady Mayor of Bolton and for the press to attend. We had people from marketing there and our manager. It was busy, busy busy, but our manager thanked us all at the end of the day for our hard work.

During our break we took our shoes off and were invited upstairs into the Temple. It was a beautiful room. Children played drums for us and the bagpipes....they made the whole day special for them and for us.

We were shattered at the end of the day and couldn't wait to get home....then something dreadful happened and I spent the next few hours in the hospital.................

I'll write about it tomorrow (which is actually today because I didn't get home from the hospital until nearly 3am)
