Shambles Square

Today - on a whim - me & Mrs MD took a tram ride into Manchester from Milnrow - just outside Rochdale.
When we alighted at Victoria Station we emerged into lovely sunshine.
Just up the road is Shambles Square - home to two of the oldest pubs in Manchester - the Old Wellington Inn and Sinclairs Oyster Bar. The place was heaving....
Being St. George's Day - his flag was flying proudly from the clock tower of Manchester Cathedral which is nearby. (see extra).
We wandered along in the sunshine and visited the John Rylands Library on Deansgate. It's unlike any other library I know of - more like a cathedral than a library (see extra).
Mrs. MD has a blip of the Historic Reading Room. The study alcoves were all being used - on a Sunday!
What an interesting day - and with very little driving :-)
