WARNING!!! OLD MAN RANT AHEAD!!

My daughter Karen and I were out garage sale-ing today, and came upon this kids playhouse. We couldn't pose in front of it to show some perspective (we were in a hurry...bargains were waiting), but I'm going to guess that it is 1/4 scale.

Now the rant. Back in my day (I hate it when people start a story like this), we felt lucky to get our hands on the giant box that the refrigerator came in. Unlike this "cottage" , we were lucky if the big box lasted for 3 days. And, forget real windows...we cut out the windows with a jackknife.

Moving past cardboard, and on to wood...we NEVER got our grubby little hands on real lumber. We were lucky if we could "borrow" Dad's hand saw out of the garage...to cut down some tree branches. And nails? Forget the nails...we didn't have a penny apiece to pay for them.

OK, rant over. Some little girl or boy had some nice parents or grandparents to provide this classic beauty.

If you look close...in the lower picture windows of the tower...you can see the winding staircase that leads upstairs. Nice.

Speaking of nice...our 4 garage sales weren't. 4 clunkers...4 stinkers...4 duds.

P.S. We should have stopped to look inside.

P.S.S. Even if you could afford this place...it seems like it would cost a small fortune to have it moved.
