Land-and-seascapes

Ameland, day 3 of 3.

Third and final day on Ameland.
After breakfast the four of us went on our bike again in the morning and ended up at the beach near Buren and the nature-reserve Het Oerd.
But because of the fierce wind we didn't bike as far as we planned. But that's okay.

Bas and Daan played football on the beach, Annemarie had her e-reader with her and yours truly went photographing in the dunes.

We planned to take the 16.30 boat back to the mainland, Holwerd.
After a late lunch (in the Nes-Café) we walked a bit through the old village, after that we took our luggage from the appartment in Buren and then biked back to Nes, to the ferry.

Because I expected it to be very busy on the boat we arrived a bit early.
When we came near Nes I saw in the distance the 15.30 ferry in the harbour. An extra kick on the pedals and a quick walk to the boat and we were on it! Right after we entered it, it took off. Not busy at all and one hour ahead of schedule!

We had a quick fish dinner in Lauwersoog and then we picked up our dog  Spike in Zuidbroek.

Back home at 19.30. All very tired and with sunburnt heads, but looking back on a great birthday weekend.

Tomorrow back to normal...for three whole weeks. Then another special trip is on the agenda: An Eric Clapton concert in the Royal Albert Hall in London awaits Annemarie and me. Looking forward to that already.
