A time for everything

Ready for take-off!

Wednesday
This morning we went for another bike ride, this time down to Bailey's tract, an outlying section of the Ding Darling Wildlife refuge, closer to the Gulf of Mexico. It was a nice ride, but not very productive from the point of view of wildlife - just a cormorant, an egret and this black-necked stilt just preparing to fly off - and still no alligators, though we were talking to one lady, obviously a local, who said she had seen several the last time she was there. After lunch, we headed to the Lighthouse beach for a change of scene to our local one. It turned out to be quite different to Bowmans Beach, our closest one, as whereas Bowmans beach shelves fairly steeply into the water, Lighthouse beach is very gentle, making it great for kids, and also meaning since the water is so shallow it warms up more - so it was almost like swimming in bath water!
