Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Opening Day!

Today was the official opening day of boating season with parade and crew races thru the Montlake cut.   Well, we didnt walk over there the year to watch the races but instead stood on the University bridge looking west toward the Montlake cut.   800 rowers race and having done it once, I do love to see them…  the invited team to race the UW was China. (China??) and no others so not too competitive.

After the view thru the window of the Virginia V in its berth on S.Lake Union in yesterday's blip, I think she needs to be the blip today, in action, on her way to the parade…  I think I’ve only been on this boat once, long ago, helping for a high school graduation event.    It’s a 1921 wood hulled steamer.. now a national historic landmark, whose whistle is unmistakable;-(The LINK to her history)…  Extras… the Virginia 5 sailing under the expressway, approaching the University bridge, and the start of the parade with the fireboat…and purple smoke…(UW's colors are purple and gold)

I did put a few boats on flickr for boat lovers… the theme for the parade was Wizard of Oz but one would never know that from these :-)
