Swans and cygnets enter Stratford Park's lake

I spotted the family of swans as the parents led their six cygnets from the nest to the water, three days after they were born. I doubt if this was the first time but the last cygnet did appear to be rather afraid as if it was its first time. I could see that there was still an egg left on the nest just a couple of yards away on this island in the lake at Stratford Park.

Last year the pair successfully reared five cygnets so I shall follow their progress with interest once again. The nest site seems very safe on the tiny island that the park keepers ensure is always separated from the shore, which is right beside the main road to Whiteshill.
