Above And Beyond...

Minoan Palace

Without any prompting Mrs BB suggested going to The Royal Palace at Knossos, Crete. It's an archaelogical site that's been excavated in the 1900's and is reputedly the oldest City in Europe. The site dates from 7000BC with the first palace dating from 1700BC and in use to about 1100BC.

It was overpriced at 15 euros each to get in but we enjoyed a good hour there looking around this large site which has been largely reconstructed.
I particularly enjoyed watching the sparrows (see blipfoto) flying back and forth from steel girders of the roof.  It's my wide angle Wednesday photo - stretching the 'M' for Minoan a bit!!

Afterwards we had a drive around the mountains near Knossos before getting back to the hotel and enjoying some sunbathing around the main pool until 7pm, with Mrs BB doing her swimming in the pool that's a good length for serious swimmers.

We're eating in again tonight enjoying the sunset from our balcony.
