Life in Sunny Dubai

Planetshakers

I've had big computer problems tonight, so posting this much later than I hoped!

It's been a really good day, mainly due to getting to the Planetshakers conference at the IPIC Arena! We left a bit later than intended but found the place without too much trouble and even got great seats despite walking into the Arena just before the start. (We found out later that we had missed a one hour queue to enter!)

So what can I say about tonight? Firstly, the IPIC Arena (which is Abu Dhabi's Jui Juitsu venue) is REALLY nice and what's more, we went expecting to be sweating it out in the open air, but were most pleasantly surprised to find it was indoors!

The Planetshakers conference actually covers two days, and it kicked off today with a concert. So pleased I have got to see them again because they really are super to watch. They do well crafted, easy to singalong songs with good lyrics, and there is such a sense of fun with them, in fact, it felt like a huge party or even a rave but without the drugs and alcohol! (I've heard!)

The Abu Dhabi guys made for a great audience and sung loud and heartily. We got chatting to the ladies next to us; all from the Philippines and working in ADH, and intrigued we had travelled down from Dubai!

Planetshakers are on tour and played in Doha last night. Their pastor gave a talk and it seemed to finish all too soon, but not before singing our favourite song by them - This is our Time. Amazing to see the whole Arena jump up and singalong!

Two years ago, G & I went to see them in Dubai knowing just one song, and we were fans by the end of the evening. They sang lots of new material tonight, but they were equally catchy and cool. All I can say is, if the Planetshakers ever come to a town or venue near you, go and watch them. They are just fantastic!

We called in at the Last Exit on the way home for some dinner... a  nice run back with no hassle at all.
