Day 11: South Lewis to Harris to Skye

The Shawshank Redemption came to my rescue big style today!

As we left Loch Erisort Inn to head south back over the mountains to Tarbert for the ferry, the wind was in our faces and I was apprehensive about managing the mileage and the height. The first section of the ride was hard going and that's when my favourite movie stepped up. I went through the whole film, sub plots included. There were views to enjoy too which we didn't see two days ago when we were blown through the hills. My blip is of the 'fjord' just before we began the climb over Climish.

We had to get off and push a couple of times when the wind gusted from the side but by the time we reached the summit, Morgan Freeman was walking along the beach and Tim Robbins was jumping down off his boat to greet him!

We freewheeled down the other side of Climish then Tony detoured to look at the whaling station whilst I cycled in to Tarbert and secured us a table in the cafe.

A couple of hours later and we were enjoying fish and chips on the ferry to Skye. As we disembarked at Uig, the sun came out and we had grand views across the bay as we pedalled slowly uphill the six miles to our B&B at Garybuie.

This was another excellent guest house with no wifi or television so we showered and crashed for lots of hours. Two more days on the saddle and then home...
