Golden Plover

Well what else would we expect to see on Plover Hill? Grouse? Yes those too., very close.

Four of us had a lovely, mostly sunny walk up Pen-y-ghent, 694m, from Helwith Bridge up Long Lane. I'm so glad we chose that way up as no one else did, yet it was pretty busy from Horton in Ribblesdale.

We had first lunch at the top looking out towards Ingleborough before carrying on to Plover Hill at 680m.

The weather deteriorated to wet on the descent and back along the Pennine Journey via Horton Moor and Hull Pot, which Alex, the geography teacher delighted in telling us about :-)

18km. 6.5hours.
