You'd never guess ...

.... it's a primula from the emerging bud..

Primula vialii aka Chinese Pagoda Primrose.  I raised a few of these from seed last year.  It's not ideally suited to our dry sandy soil but I'm hopeful that I can keep it happy in a fairly shady place at the front of a border where I might notice if it's getting too dry ..... and water it!

A super sunny day.  After a quiet morning Jacinta took me out for a belated Birthday lunch at the old railway station in Reepham.  We had a lovely stroll along the footpath that has long replaced the rails.  Warm enough to need to sit on the shady side of the garden later.  Summer :-)
