Allium 'Universe' at Kew Gardens

This afternoon, it was the National Gallery, then on to St. Paul's Cathedral in time for evensong (after getting there too late on Wednesday). It was such a contrast to go through the cacophony of bells outside into the quiet inside. So beautiful, too. From there, we walked across the river on the narrow, pedestrian-only Millenium Bridge and back across the next bridge to catch a train home.
This morning, we visited Kew Gardens just to the west of London. I wish I could show you a picture of how it felt to be there, but my photos didn't capture the pleasure of walking on vast spreads of clover-filled lawn surrounded by mounds of rhododendrons in bloom, and agreeable old trees. The pictures just didn't translate, but how about these purple alliums!
