Keeping cool

I was up at the crack of dawn to take Pete and Chris to the station, as they were off to Kent to look for Duke of Burgundy butterflies. After dropping Ben at college later in the morning, I headed north to Claypole and Hougham to do some more botanical recording. I knew that it was going to be hot, but hadn't really anticipated temperatures of 27C, which made it all feel rather tiring. This Highland steer had the right idea - relaxing in the shade of a fine Copper Beech.
