On the Road With Jack

I get through 2 or 3 audiobooks a week- I love reading with my eyes closed. Now and then I come across something really special. This is really up there. It’s a reading of the original scroll that Kerouac typed before the editors got their prudish hands on it. I’m finding this version more lively and poetic than the published book. The editors cleaned up the language, altered words, details, and even left out whole stories, leaving it somehow flatter than the original.

This is not a story about Sal Paradise and his friend Dean Moriarty, but about Jack Kerouac and Neal Cassidy, with all their associates having their real names. The narration is by John Ventimiglia, who adds to the pleasure of listening.
