Breathe In And Out...

Oh, you do drone on!

What a windy blooming day today. I thought I might struggle to find an insect subject for my blipfoto entry. Then, when cycling home after work, I found a quiet little spot in Bridge of Allan, a bed of wild native flowers planted up as part of the On the Verge project. I've photographed and blipped insects from there before and today this wee beauty was one of the only insects there. I have blipped this species before. Pretty sure it is a drone fly, Eristalis tenax, a common species of hoverfly that mimics the honeybee, maybe as a form of deterrence of predators. I think this photo is a better one (in my humble opinion)! I like the big eyes and long proboscis!
