JVM my life

St Agnes

Popped into Truro this morning, wanted to try and find a cable for the kayak and paddles which I can tie to me so I don't lose them when I inevitably get thrown out the boat again, no luck though! Planned to do the coast to coast bike trail this afternoon but hiring the bikes from Bissoe Cycle Hire didn't go too well, they wanted to charge us for a full day even though we could only use the bikes for 2 hrs, so passed on that and instead drove out to St. Agnes, what a good move!

We headed to Chapel Porth home of the world bellyboarding championships and then trekked up the coast past the beautiful remains of the Towanroath and Wheal Coates engine houses (see blip). We continued past the head, stopping to admire Bawden rocks and then dropped down into Trevaunance Cove for a sneaky beer. Great surf at this beach, and beach huts no less that you can hire for the day to change in peace. Walked back along the coast roads to speed up our return and then cut back to the Engine houses - a historic testament of Cornwall's tin and copper mining past. There were paraponters out enjoying a balmy late summers evening. As the sun set we paddled in the surf and explored the caves - on the way home drove via Portreath to grab takeaway fish and chips, with the sun low in the sky now, it was cold so we huddled beneath the big stone harbor wall watching the last brave surfers catch the waves as the light drained from the skies.
