Berneray Slip

Today's the day . . . . . . . . . . .  to journey

It has taken six buses of varying size, two ferries and finally a car to bring us from the southernmost island of the Outer Hebrides - to Stornoway, the capital of Lewis, the most northerly island.

It's been a day of mixing with the locals - all of them real characters, of enormous kindness, lots of humour and hilarious happenings and all of it taking place while passing through some of the most staggeringly beautiful scenery in the Hebrides.  I'm not sure if we've always been on the correct bus (we were on a school bus at one point picking up all the kids on the way) - but we've been passed on from one bus to another rather in the manner of the film 'Gregory's Girl'.

We had a marvellous full Scottish breakfast in the little hospital on Benbecula?! and lunch in the Lobster Pot just near here on Berneray.  It's taken us most of the day but we've loved every minute.  We're now in the hospitable hands of good friends Alasdair and Sionag and looking forward to some more quality time with them.

Life is good . . .  . . . . . . . .
