Waimak sunset

My friend's grandfather died today. I was with the family when it happened. After a long struggle with cancer, he died peacefully at home, surrounded by those he loved. He was holding his wife's hand and mouthed, 'I love you' seconds before he passed on. So sad and yet so joyful. I felt honoured to be included in their grief and their celebration.

The funeral is on Saturday.

After a fairly highly charged day, a few of us went down to the Waimak for a bit of quiet contemplation. This photo was my favourite. I like the way the sun's rays poke out from behind the cloud.

This was my other option.
